Dear Elizabeth,Im taking the opertunity of performing my promise to you my dear Elizabeth which you nor your friends might not expect I should. But you my dear girl I shall never forget. Your behavour to me was better then I ever desired or deserved. The man that came for my things came home and tolld my Mother all about the fiting (fighting) and said that I should be transported and about you being too.
But they have never said aword to me concerning it nor the fiting nor never ask how my close (clothes) came bloody. But they all (k)now about it, all but Father. I should expect that I have got a prety carictor (pretty character) there out of the row, which I shall expect to here (hear) of in your letter. Send the particulars of every thing, bad and good.
I have not been a tome (at home) much not yet. I has been at the Three Bottles most of my time and ham (am) a-going to bide there a week longder (longer) and then a-going to Clayhill. It (h)as been my only care such that your Father and your sisters use you well whether you be at your Fathers or not. And I .. I have not forgot which I sopose (suppose) you was that I do not expect to know some other person. And, if you was, you has broke your promas (promise) first and I shall not forget to tell you on it the first time I see you which I hope will not belong (be long). For I long to be in company with that most amiable girl home (whom) I love as my life.
If this should not rach (reach) your hands acording to promas, you know my dear it was no fault of mine and your sisters will think that I shall never send any moor (more). But I ham in hopes it will, or else it will cause you to be uneasey. If I have no Answer a cording to promas, I shall think you have not had it. As for the Books, you know you were to leave them as I tould (told) you before I came a way.
I had not left you a minit before I lost my road, nor was that the only time. I lost my way three times before I got to Cheltenham that nite. Had you been with me you would have been in dispair for it was so dark.
I hope you will meet me ther(e) at the Airboloon w(h)ere you said you would, but that is four miles out of Cheltenham. You be suar (sure) and send a cording to your word and send when I must send again or come to meet you at the place a pointed (appointed). You may be sua to here (hear) from me again be fore I com(e).
So my love to you my dear Elizabeth and all your frinds (friends).
So I remain your consistant lover,
Hold this part close to the fire
you will see my name as (is) as I promisd you.
Let no person see this but your self.
